There are several factors that need to be considered to guarantee that the virgin coconut oil you will use is of the highest quality.
Types of Coconut Oil
- Regular Virgin Coconut Oil-This is the most common type of virgin coconut oil. This type follows the traditional method of producing virgin coconut oil. Low heat is applied in the extraction process so vitamin E and other antioxidants may be lost.
- Premium Virgin Coconut Oil-This is also known as the extra virgin coconut oil. This type is manufactured without the use of heat so this brand is a little expensive and harder to find than the regular virgin coconut oil. Processing may take longer because no heat is used. This brand is recommended if one desires Vitamin E and other heat-sensitive antioxidants.
- Enzymatic Virgin Coconut Oil-This type is made with the use of water soluble food enzymes without the use of heat.
Note: All variants of virgin coconut oil provide essential health benefits, trans fat free and has a long shelf life.
