Make Your Own Toothpaste and Mouthwash with VCO

Buying a bottle of virgin coconut oil is definitely worth it. This is because you can use it in so many ways. Whether for health or vanity reasons, there are a thousand ways one can use virgin coconut oil. It is a good moisturizer for the skin, an effective conditioner for the hair, an excellent make up remover and a healthier cooking oil. Now, would you believe that it can also be used as an ingredient so you can make your own natural toothpaste and mouthwash? Yes, a bottle of virgin coconut oil can also be used to maintain oral health.

For an instant natural mouthwash, just mix water and a few drops of extra virgin coconut oil and water. Unlike other mouthwash available in the market, it does more than cleaning the mouth; it also cures mouth diseases such as canker sores and even makes gums healthier. Other natural oils that one can substitute for a natural mouthwash are sesame seed oil, extra virgin olive oil, monolaurin, and clove oil.

Just be reminded that not all natural oils can be used as mouthwash because some can be too harsh that it can burn your mouth or even be toxic. Always do a little research about a certain oil to use as mouthwash to be safe.

To make toothpaste, one needs to mix glycerin and coconut oil extract. Many natural toothpaste contains ingredients that are derived from coconut oil such as Hamposyl L -95 (Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate). This ingredient has mild cleaning properties and at the same fights cavities.

You can also make toothpaste by mixing equal amounts of coconut oil and baking soda. Just put a little water to reach a proper consistency for the mixture. Store the natural toothpaste in the refrigerator.
