How To Make A Healthy Sandwich Spread Using VCO

We all love to eat our breads with our favorite sandwich spread. One of the most popular sandwich spread is peanut butter. Many though may complain that eating too much of it is not good because its high fact content can be unhealthy.

The good news is that you can still enjoy your favorite peanut butter and not worry about its ill effect on health.
 
That is by eating a peanut butter that is made of healthier ingredients. Instead of using regular nuts, one can substitute almonds for a healthier alternative. And instead of regular vegetable oil, once can use virgin coconut oil which has many benefits on one’s body. The healthier version of peanut butter may even taste better. And guess what, you can also do it easily at home so check out the recipe below.
 
How To Make a Healthier Nut Spread
 
What You Will Need
 
Raw and slivered almonds-- I cup
Bittersweet chocolate chunks—1 ½ ounces
Vegetable Oil- 2 tablespoons
Sweetener- ½ tablespoon
Pinch of sea salt
Blender/Food processor
 
Just put the almond nuts in the blender and blitz it. It will break down the almond bits to grains and then to almost dust texture. Soon after, the blender will also extract the oil from the nuts. The nut oil is important because it will soften the mixture until it liquefies. At this point, it is up to you if you still want to blend the nuts to attain a smoother mixture.
 
Remember that you don’t have to blend the entire mixture in one run. You have to turn off the blender every once in a while to scrape bits of nuts that are flown off to the sides of the blender. This is to ensure that the mixture is properly and thoroughly blended. Allot at least 30 minutes for this process.
 
You will add the chocolate chunks when the almond mixture starts to clump. You should blend the chocolate chunks in batches. This is because adding too much chocolate at once may take away the mild flavor of the almonds.
 
After this, you can then add the coconut oil followed with the honey. In adding the honey, use the same measuring spoon that you used in putting the oil. This is to prevent the honey from sticking in the almond chocolate mixture.
 
Season it with salt and then blend it again until it reaches the desired consistency. Store it an airtight container and put in the refrigerator because it contains no preservatives. It will be good for one week. You can then used your yummy and healthy chocolate almond spread as sandwich spread. Enjoy it!
